This postcard goes out to London-based Gia and Brian, one of my favorite couples.

Gia Milinovich is an old friend from my early UK blogging days, her husband, Professor Brian Cox is a well known pysicist who does a lot of TV shows and public lectures both in the UK and over here in the US. Both are real sweetheats and are sharp as nails.

“Since 1997 I’ve drawn thousands of “Hughcards” [cartoons drawn on the backs of business card], just to give me something to do while sitting at the bar. Over time they have become increasingly religious and or meditative, over time they became ‘Cathedrals’."

(What is a "Cathedral”?)

A “Cathedral” is a series of x-hundred smaller, business-car “Hughcard” drawings (number per piece varies), forming a single piece under a single pane of glass.

“Cathedral” is a metaphor for a Holy Place, where the spirit goes to be amplified through contemplation.. The pieces are designed to generate a state of contemplation in the viewer.
